Are you a dedicated, compassionate and caring educator or learning mentor ?

If so, consider joining our specialist team providing educational and therapeutic support for children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs.

You will be used to working with young people with challenging behaviours as a 1:1 Learning Mentor providing specialist educational support to those that are unable to attend mainstream education.

Community Support Team CIC is a well-established and respected not-for-profit organisation working alongside local authorities and schools to provide education to children and young people through a community-based approach.

We provide vital support to vulnerable children and young people both within schools and within the community. We have succeeded in helping them reintegrate into suitable educational settings, earning us a great reputation with our referring schools and inclusion teams.

Ideal applicants will have experience of working with children and young people with SEND, providing a variety of educational and therapeutic support. This experience could be from working in schools, special schools, residential homes, youth work or your own familes. You will have a proven record of providing quality support and using various interventions, enabling you to work both as part of a team and as a lone worker.

You will have a solid understanding of safeguarding and legislation regarding work with children and young people. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide quantitative feedback to our referrers and attend meetings when required.

Qualifications:
– Experience in special education or related field
– Strong mentoring skills with the ability to guide and motivate individuals
– Excellent communication skills to interact with learners, families, and colleagues

A minimum level 3 qualification within the teaching and education sector along with other relevant educational support experience is desirable BUT not essential.

All applicants will be required to provide information for an enhanced DBS check or provide details of your DBS update service account. A minimum of 2 references will be required. PLEASE NOTE: Community Support Team CIC follows the safer recruitment policy for safeguarding children in education.

Applicants will need a full clean driving license, business insurance, and use of their own vehicle as this will be required for our outreach support sessions.

You may be required to work outside your local area as we provide support throughout Torbay, Teignbridge, Exeter, Cranbrook, and the surrounding areas.

We do not have a fixed base and provide support within the community working with our community partners.

Permanent term time only contracts – 38 weeks pa.

Weekdays – No weekends – options for weekly overtime. Paid monthly training / CPD when required.

Flexible contracts between 15–18 hours per week, plus overtime. Please note full time hours are 30hrs per week over 38 weeks 

Salary: £18.50ph inc holiday pay  – fte £21090 over 38 weeks paid over 12 months
