Social Care Support and Enabling Services

We offer enabling services through the short breaks program which is funded by the Disabled Children’s teams and through direct requests from social workers, family practitioners and other professionals working within the social care teams

Direct payment referrals

If you are in receipt of Direct Payment allowances from the local authority for short breaks, we are happy to work with you. We will work with you to ensure you have the best options available to give both your child and family the benefits of our support.

We have an all-inclusive hourly rate so there are no hidden extras for expenses, mileage and activities.

Counselling for young people and family members

We are able to provide a wide range of counselling services via our mental health team. We have 2 experienced counsellors who have worked with both children and adults. They have experience of working with young people in residential homes, secure units, eating disorder teams as well as in schools and on occasion helping out CAHMS via referrals from their team.

We can provide counselling in our dedicated wellbeing centre in Newton Abbot or we can arrange for home visits.

Positive behaviour management and intervention courses for fellow professionals.

As a team we promote a hands-off approach, as we believe there is always another way to help young people who are feeling anxious, scared or frightened. We understand that there are many factors that cause a young person to become aggressive and violent toward others. We will always find a way to promote positive behaviour and conflict resolution.

We are aware that unfortunately in some cases this is not always possible. We are pleased to be able to offer a variety of training courses tailored to your needs in positive behaviour management, conflict resolution and handling techniques.
